The 2023 Credit Union Art Competition has now launched at BLACKROCK CREDIT UNION
Blackrock Credit Union is delighted to announce that entries are now open for the 2023 Credit Union Art Competition. The theme for this year’s Credit Union Art Competition is ‘My Community & Me’.
A community is not just a group of people who live in the same area. It’s people who look out for and help each other and work together so that the needs of everyone are considered. A sustainable community doesn’t just consider the interests of those who live in the community today. They think about and care for future generations too. And that’s just what we do in Blackrock Credit Union – we put the needs of our members and the communities which we serve first.
This year’s theme gives entrants the opportunity to present your own interpretation of your community and your place within it. What makes your community different? Is it the people you know and meet within your community? Is it the beauty you see every day in and around your community?
The competition invites participants to create artworks that depict the theme in an original way and show that special something about our fabulous community. The Credit Union Art Competition, now in its 40th year, has been a feature of life for young and old throughout Ireland. This competition plays an important role in promoting the culture of art, a vital cog in our national identity and Blackrock Credit Union are delighted to be part of the competition again this year.
The Credit Union Art Competition is free to enter. There are no age limits and it is open to anyone aged seven years and under right through to 18 years and over. There is also an additional needs category. Winners at local level will go on to a regional level, and regional winners will progress to the national awards ceremony in February 2024.
Ken Gleeson, Manager of Blackrock Credit Union said “The Credit Union Art Competition holds a special place in our community and we want to encourage anyone with an interest in art to get involved. We look forward to seeing how entrants will interpret the theme ‘My Community & Me’. Every year we are amazed by the quality and number of entries that come into us and it is really heartwarming to see the creative talent within our community in Blackrock, Booterstown and the surrounding areas. We can’t wait to see all the amazing entries and of course present our worthy winners with some great cash prizes”.
